The Best of the Best: Deep Sea Fishing San Diego
from:When you decided to make a trip out to sea to go deep sea fishing, San Diego offers some of the best results of any location in the world. With trips year round providing various results and yielding different species, you can opt for a simple half-day trip during a vacation to a full three weeks of deep sea fishing. San Diego is a prime place to get the fishing experience of a lifetime either way.
If you sail out a mere three to ten miles for deep sea fishing, San Diego waters are teeming with different varieties of bass (white, calico, and sand bass are common), mackerel, dorado, and barracuda. All of these are typical species found in the deep waters closest to the shore. If you set out a good deal further, a full sixty to eighty miles from shore where land becomes a memory, you can expect to find both bluefin and yellowfin tuna, big eye tuna, albacore, skipjack, and yellowtail. Don’t be shocked to find shark and other exotics this far offshore, either.
In the spring and summer months of deep sea fishing, San Diego and its northernmost reaches are excellent locations to find an abundance of extremely large specimens of all the typical local species. As the waters cool in the fall, tours head down toward the Coronado Islands just off the Baja coast. In the winter, the fish will move any further south towards Cabo San Lucas, and tours will follow.
When you schedule a trip to go deep sea fishing, San Diego charter services will provide sportfishing equipment, such as rods, reels, bait, and anything else that you really need to battle the wrestlers that you’ll encounter. You can even expect the experienced crewmembers to assist you in reeling in the toughest of the tough and then assisting you in cleaning and filleting your catch, whether you reel in a small albacore or a giant bluefin tuna. When you go deep sea fishing, San Diego charters will also provide you a checklist of items you need to bring for yourself in order to be prepared, especially if you plan to make a long trip, lasting several days or weeks.
Don’t hesitate to take the time and plan some time for deep sea fishing. San Diego is the ultimate place to find any type of excursion you want, but even if you are planning a vacation in some other coastal area, you should consider the prospect. You’ll have a great deal of fun and an experience you can relate to others with joy and pride.
